Added expanded results to Chofter.com

9 August, 2008 (13:35) | Uncategorized | By: admin

The option to use either a compact or an expanded view of results has been added to Chofter.com.

Using the compact view, each result displays a title and summary for that page. Using the expanded view, each result displays the title, summary, and links to similar pages, cached versions of the page and more.

The type of view to use can be chosen by clicking the “More Stuff” button, choosing “Preferences”, and selecting “Yes” or “No” for the expanded view.

Coming next, multiple language support!

Microsoft Live search added

In what I hope to be a often-recurring happening, I discovered another search site that kindly makes their search data publicly available.  You may have heard of them…. Microsoft!

Chofter now comes with Microsoft Live’s web and news search capabilities, in addition to all the others that currently exist.

Did you ever feel, when searching the web, that most websites are firmly rooted in the 90’s?

  • User interfaces that display information, but do nothing more.
  • Cool names but the same old click-wait-click-open-new-window?
  • Search engines that force you to go to multiple different sites to search for images, videos, books etc?
  • 10 results per page? Seriously?

Chofter.com is a search portal that offers so much more.

  • Search multiple sites simultaneously - Google, Yahoo, Microsoft Live, Flickr, YouTube, Amazon, Wikipedia and more
  • Returns many more results
  • View pages without opening a new browser window.
  • Search multiple categories simultaneously, including Web, News, Images, Videos, Blogs, Books and more.
  • More search sources coming online as you read this.

The initial beta release of Chofter.com is now live.  To add it to your search bar, click here.

Try it out - I hope you find it a superior search experience.
